Job Title: Vice President/Project Executive - Civil Construction
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Vice President/Project Executive to join our leadership team. This is a hands-on executive role, where you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company, including managing project managers, estimators, and other key personnel. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in the civil construction industry with a background in estimating and managing large-scale projects such as excavation/earthworks, underground utilities, asphalt paving, roadway construction, site concrete, and other related disciplines.
The Vice President/Project Executive will play a key role in shaping the company’s direction, ensuring projects are executed successfully, and fostering growth within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth execution of projects from preconstruction to closeout.
- Manage and mentor project managers, estimators, and other team members to foster a high-performance culture.
- Oversee and guide the estimation process for large civil construction projects, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and profitability.
- Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Work closely with clients, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure successful project execution and maintain strong relationships.
- Review and approve project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to optimize project performance.
- Analyze and resolve any issues related to project delays, cost overruns, or quality control.
- Implement and enforce company policies, best practices, and safety standards across all projects.
- Support senior leadership in setting strategic goals and objectives, and contribute to the long-term growth and success of the company.
- Monitor overall company performance and provide timely updates to stakeholders regarding project status, financial health, and other key metrics.
- Evaluate and pursue new business opportunities, ensuring the company’s competitive edge in the marketplace.
- Drive the adoption and integration of construction technology and software to improve efficiency and project delivery (experience with HCSS, AGTEK, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office is preferred).
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the civil construction industry, with a strong focus on excavation/earthworks, underground utilities, asphalt paving, roadway construction, site concrete, and related disciplines.
- Proven experience in estimating and managing large-scale civil construction projects.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in construction software tools such as HCSS, AGTEK, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (preferred but not required).
- In-depth knowledge of project management, budgeting, scheduling, and cost control processes.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, construction codes, and industry best practices.
- Ability to foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- A results-oriented mindset with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in an executive or senior leadership role within a civil construction company.
Compensation:
- Base Salary: $165,000 - $200,000 (commensurate with experience)
